Abstract
This article is devoted to the analysis of the national-cultural specificity of complex words expressing the appearance and character of a person in English and Uzbek languages. The main tasks of this work were the different approaches of linguists to the national-cultural problem, the interdependence of national-culture and language, and the activity of compound words in expressing this linguistic phenomenon.
