Abstract
This article analyzes the stages of development of the institute for assessing the impact of legislative acts in national legislation from the past period of independence to the present day. The article reveals the specific features and disadvantages of each stage. In particular, relevant tools and methods for regulatory policy analysis are presented. It also states that regulatory impact assessment is an effective mechanism, primarily in terms of assessing whether public authorities impose unnecessary and excessive costs on entrepreneurs in public decisions.
