Abstract
In patients with preeclampsia, serum levels of homocysteine, fibrinogen, cholesterol, and C-reactive protein increase significantly, causing endothelial dysfunction. The severity of endothelial dysfunction coincides with the level of proteinuria and arterial hypertension. Long-term high levels of homocysteine in the serum of pregnant women with PE is one of the possible mechanisms for the development of placental disorders, hypoxia and fetal hypotrophy.
