Abstract
Recurrent IVD hernias are the cause of persistent pain, neurological symptoms, and disability. Scientific research on this topic is currently attracting more and more attention of vertebrologists and neurosurgeons. The paper presents the views of various researchers on the concept of "relapse" and methods for diagnosing this pathology. The risk factors for the development of recurrence of modifiable and non-modifiable IVD hernias are described and discussed in detail. The article focuses on the methods of intraoperative and postoperative prevention of IVD hernia recurrence. Mechanical methods for closing defects of the fibrous ring after MDE are described. Among the methods for preventing recurrence, recommendations on corset therapy, lifestyle correction, and the rejection of bad habits are more often discussed. , normalization of body weight and regular exercise.
