Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between theoretical and practical aspects between the sciences. The historical and modern principles of compiling dictionaries, their classification and varieties are determined. The role of dictionaries in the system of sciences, their relationship. Dictionaries as a way of transferring information from one language to another. Historical and modern, theoretical and practical aspects of lexicography (compilation of dictionaries). The chronology of the appearance of dictionaries, and the definition of the terms lexicography and vocabulary are carried out. Their relationship in linguistics as a single system of the concept of lexicography.
