Abstract

The mechanical properties of the ABS plastic filled with 3 wt % of the short carbon fiber subjected to gamma irradiation are studied. It is found that gamma radiation leads to a nonlinear and abrupt change in the mechanical properties of the studied material. IR spectroscopy data show that gamma radiation influences the chemical nature of the ABS plastic surface.
