Abstract
This article devoted to Alpharabius’ basic ideas and categories of cognition, which don’t lose their meaning in modern time and continue to cause concern, polemic in circle of comparative philosophy and between historians of philosophy. It has been explained by attempts to retrace the character of western and eastern cultures’ dialog in conditions of sudden changing world. The dialectics of sensual and rational cognition, role of mind and its incontradistinction to the faith are introduced. The author analyses eastern Peripatetics’ “double truth” concept and fundamental distinction of treatment this concept by west-european scientists.
