Abstract
This article analyzes the thoughts of the outstanding Russian lawyer G.F. Shershenevich on civil society, law, justice and their functional connections. Reasonable conclusions are drawn about the relevance of Shershenevich's views on the possibility of the existence of civil society only in the presence of stable and fair legislation, as well as a developed system of objective and independent justice bodies.
