Abstract

This article is devoted to the issue of the condition of Buddhist monuments and the fate of Buddhism in medieval Tarmidh-Termez. The article provides a brief description of the results of research conducted at the site of the mausoleum of Muhammad Hakim Tirmidhi, in areas to the north and east of it, as well as on the territory of Dunyotepa. The main stages of functioning of the revealed cave structures are determined, their types are distinguished. The archaeological material of the cave structures was compared with the finds from Karatepa, Zartepa, settlements of Aktepa II and Kuchuktepa of Northern Tokharistan. Based on the results of archaeological research, some clarifications were made about the fate of Buddhism in Tarmidh-Termez in the early Middle Ages and on the eve of the Arab conquest.
