Abstract
The article examines about the scientific-theoretical approaches to the formation of the Uzbek people, problematic and controversial issues. The theoretical-methodological views on the study of the origin of the nation in world and Uzbek science are analyzed. In the years of independence, the formation of the Uzbek people was widely studied by local scientists. A number of concepts, views and opinions regarding the study of the subject have been formed. However, problematic and controversial aspects of the issue still remain. In recent years, local scholars have retreated from the study of this issue, but it can be observed that the general public is interested and debated about its origin.
