Abstract

This article is devoted to the historical geography of Tarmidh - Termez, that had an important place in the history of Central Asia. Tarmidh-Termez was mentioned in ancient and early medieval written sources. These include the works of Greco-Roman, Chinese, Tibetan, Armenian, Arab- Persian authors. The article briefly describes the studies on the localization of cities mentioned in ancient sources under the names of Alexandria Oxiana and Antioch Tarmita on the site of Ancient Termez. And also, a description of the archaeological research carried out on its territory, including the identification of the main parts of the monument, and their results.
