Abstract

The economic theory of language policy interprets language as an economic phenomenon, the language situation as an economic, market situation, and language policy as an integral element of economic policy. The article presents an attempt to systematize and develop the theoretical and methodological aspects of this promising area of research at the intersection of economics and sociolinguistics.
