Cognitive disorders of vascular origin in patients of working age in the practice of a family doctor

Abstract

In clinical practice, cognitive impairments associated with age-related vascular degenerative lesions of thebrain are well known. These changes cause the formation of a complex symptom of manifestations, negatively affecting on the social status, functional activity, adherence to treatment and satisfaction with theresults of therapy for the underlying and concomitant diseases. Cognitive impairment (CI) is a widespreadclinical syndrome, the diagnosis of which is a responsible task and requires a comprehensive study of theanamnesis, the nature of the clinical picture, and the results of laboratory and instrumental examination.Cerebrovascular disease is a common cause of CI. The article highlights the management of patients withCI of vascular origin, in particular, the main aspects of the correction of cardiovascular risk factors, thechoice of optimal drug therapy. Information is provided on the possibility of using Mexidol for the treatment of patients with chronic cerebral ischemia (CCI) and CI. The results of studies devoted to the study ofthe possibility of using Mexidol in chronic disorders of cerebral circulation with CI are analyzed.
