Abstract

With regard to the interpretation of the concept of "language", this article distinguishes two currents of Russian linguistic thought. The first trend was formed under the influence of Orthodox theology, based on the idea of the divine origin of the language. The second current was based on the concept of a language borrowed from the natural sciences. What is common for representatives of both currents is that they insist on the importance of the links that exist between language and thinking.
