Abstract
Brain implant technologies are swiftly growing into the most promising therapeutic solution globally, with the potential to treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, and brain injury. While this technology is still in its infancy, significant progress has already been made. This paper outlines our current knowledge and expected developments of these technologies in the future, including possible risks and ethical questions. Additionally, future research directions concerning things like the change in perspective, personal identity, IoT integration, and cyber security concerns are reviewed.
