Abstract
The paper presents the results of studies on the structure formation of R6M5 steel during heat treatment, which consists of hardening steel from generally accepted temperatures, and carrying out the process of low-temperature nitro-carburization combined with the tempering process. It has been established that the size of the austenite grain depends on the holding time when heating the steel for hardening, and the amount of retained austenite sharply decreases at a temperature of 550 C and a holding time of 2.5 hours.
