Grafted Chitosan as Sustainable Corrosion Inhibitors
Abstract
Metallic materials play an essential role in the industry which makes their corrosion destruction is a major problem that needs to be addressed. Corrosion inhibitors are some of the most effective means of protecting metals from corrosion. The grafted chitosan is widely used as a green corrosion inhibitor for various metal materials in acidic, saline, and other corrosion mediums. The grafted chitosan natural corrosion inhibitors are less toxic, environmentally friendly, effectively water-soluble, biodegradable, non-volatile, non-flammable, low-cost, and don't require dangerous technology or syntheses methodology. This chapter provides an in-depth review of the types of grafted chitosan corrosion inhibitors including their main inhibition properties for steel, aluminium, and copper metallic materials in acidic, saline—among other corrosive solutions.
