Abstract

It is one of the main avenues through which AI technologies are coming into prominence as they promise to revolutionize civil engineering from design to maintenance. This is an elaborate paper on a plunge into the multifaceted applications of AI in civil engineering, its potential to transform, and the paradigm shifts that it introduces vis-à-vis traditional methodologies. The design phase is the cornerstone in any project related to civil engineering, where AI algorithms prove its extraordinary capabilities to optimize the design in a structure, smooth workflows, and even predict potential failures. On top of that, these AI technologies revolutionize how maintenance is done in civil engineering. They enable a kind of predictive asset’s maintenance strategies that increases reliability over assets and their service life. Predictive maintenance models with high degrees of accuracy toward equipment failure are driven by AI (artificial intelligence) and the sensor data from the IoT devices, with advanced analytics that make interventions of maintenance actions proactively in order to avoid further downtime.
