Abstract

In the article, a study was developed of the dependence of the shape of the surface of woodcarving on its flat contour. It is illustrated that the shape of the wood carving support contour significantly affects the appearance of the surface incident to it. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the shape of the contour of the plumage of woodcarving, the incident surface of which is a sign of a constant in the inner region of the contour. A number of examples show that for complex support contours with reentrant angles, with holes, the traditional method of forming woodcarvings and surface modeling provides convexity and a sign of surface constancy.
