Influence of LED spectral shift on pumping characteristics in lasers
Abstract
In the paper, we numerically investigated the effects of the spectral shift in LED emission onthe pumping characteristics of LED-pumped lasers. We aim to illustrate how variations in theblue LED emission spectrum can impact pumping efficiency, using LED pumped Ce:Nd:YAGlaser. We provided estimations of the absorption distribution and efficiency for blue LEDspectral shifts resulting from temperature changes ranging from 13 K to 300 K. Our study demonstratesthat spectral shifts in LED emission affect pumping characteristics. Obtained resultsindicate that even for spectral shifts as small as 3−5 nm, there can be a negative change ofup to 5% in absorption efficiency. This study holds significance in comprehending LEDpumpedlaser systems and optimizing their design to enhance efficiency, stability, and overallperformance.
