On the Turkic Royal Deeds during the Shibanid Period (Documents of the Karaskan Sayyids)
Abstract
"Royal deeds are of great importance in the study of the political, socio-economic life of the period. Analyzing and describing the outqard appearance and internal formulary structure of documents is an important step towards their correct understanding. This auxiliary aspect of diplomatic studies does not only help to read a document, but also to ascertain or verify missing information and dates. In numerous instances, an awareness of the formulary structure may be the only way to determine exactly what information we need to extract from the document. Consequently, this article focuses on analyzing Turkic decrees from the Shibanid period. Within the realm of Turkic diplomatic history, the study of Shibanid-era documents is considered one of the problematic issues. To address this issue, we examine Turkic decrees associated with the Karaskan Sayyids in the Fergana Valley. The article draws conclusions regarding the distinctive role of Turkish labels during the Shaibani period, emphasizing their traditional and unique structural features."
