"Yusuf and Zuleikha": a depiction of childhood feelings
Abstract
The story of Yusuf (Joseph) is very popular in the literature of the Eastern peoples, and about one hundred and fifty creators have written works on this topic under the names "Qissayi Yusuf," "Yusuf and Zulaykho," and others. There are more than forty "Yusuf and Zulaykho" written in Turkic. The article discusses the composition and thematic originality of the "Yusuf and Zulaykho" epic attributed to Durbek. The epic occupies a special place in the history of interpretations of the story. It is free from various stylistic elements such as commentary, benefit, question, answer, and multi-versioning, which are found in other interpretations. The events in the work develop consistently. Also, the author has special merits in the perfection of the theme of love in the work and its transformation into a pure love work. "Yusuf and Zulaykho" is an epic in which the relationship between father and son and Zulaykho's love for Yusuf are equally depicted. These issues are revealed in the article in comparison with other interpretations of the story.
