Abstract

This article investigates the intertextuality of the elemental symbols—water, fire, sand, and air—across literary, mythical, and cultural sources. Examining their recurrent themes, altering connotations, and connectivity helps the study show how these symbols go beyond personal storiesto create a global language of human experience. To show the continuing relevance of these symbols, the study uses instances from ancient stories, religious writings, classical literature, and contemporary media.
