Abstract
This article offers a comprehensive exploration of nouns in English grammar, focusing on their classification and function within the language’s broader structural framework. By analyzing semantic, morphological, and syntactic perspectives, it highlights the diversity of noun forms—spanning common, proper, collective, and abstract nouns—while also investigating the distinct roles they perform in sentences, from subjects and objects to subject complements and prepositional complements. Moreover, it discusses the complex overlap between certain noun subtypes and other grammatical categories, emphasizing how historical and sociolinguistic factors have influenced modern usage.
