Abstract

This article considers the analysis of information security risks in smart homes that are becoming increasingly popular due to the rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. In smart home systems, intelligent devices such as smart sensors, surveillance cameras, and lighting control systems enhance convenience but also introduce new vulnerabilities and threats to user data. The paper presents various approaches for identifying vulnerabilities, assessing potential consequences, and implementing risk mitigation methods. A qualitative risk assessment consistent with ISO/IEC 27005 is employed to categorize threats based on their likelihood of occurrence and potential impact. Detailed analysis is provided for critical assets within the smart home ecosystem, including central data storage, operating systems, and security personnel. Particular attention is paid to threats associated with remote access and privacy breaches, identified as significant challenges in ensuring overall system security. Based on the risk assessment outcomes, the paper offers practical recommendations, such as adopting robust authentication measures, conducting regular security audits, and enhancing employee training. The purpose of this research is to highlight the importance of addressing emerging security challenges in smart home systems and to propose effective solutions for safeguarding sensitive information, ensuring a secure smart home environment.
