Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the emerging role of Grok, a novel AI language model developed by xAI, in addressing the complex challenges of water resource management (WRM). Through a review of the current literature on artificial intelligence applications in WRM and a comparative analysis with other large language models (LLMs), this paper assesses Grok's future potential in predictive modeling, water quality assessment, disaster monitoring, and policy support. Through the 10 key prompts created, this study evaluates Grok's potential capacity to enhance water treatment strategies, simplify scientific communication, engage stakeholders, and support climate resilience efforts. However, its reliance on unverified social media data risks biased outputs, while limited numerical modeling capabilities necessitate integration with specialized hydrological tools.
