The Semantics Of Military Lexicon
Abstract
The military lexicon constitutes one of the most dynamic and semantically rich subsets of language. It reflects not only the structure of armed forces and warfare but also the cultural, psychological, and political dimensions of society. This paper examines the semantics of military terminology, focusing on its origins, structural and semantic classifications, and the processes that govern its evolution. Attention is given to the role of euphemism, metaphor, and technological advancement in shaping the meanings of military terms. Through semantic analysis, this study demonstrates how military language functions as both a professional code and a socio-cultural phenomenon that extends far beyond the battlefield.
