Abstract
This article elucidates the linguistic and psycholinguistic nature of the associative thesaurus, demonstrating how it reflects psychological connections between words along with their frequencies. The Russian Associative Dictionary, Edinburgh Associative Thesaurus, and examples from the Uzbek language are thoroughly analyzed: the frequency, changes, and cultural context of responses to stimulus words such as “I”, “cat” and “uzbek” are examined. Through this analysis, the evolution of linguistic consciousness over time and cultural differences are identified. Based on the methodology of free associative experiments, the article highlights the importance of the associative thesaurus in linguistics.
