Abstract

This article presents a comparative linguocultural analysis of Uzbek and English proverbs that contain plant names (phytonyms). Sample proverbs with phytonymic components from both languages are examined in terms of content and imagery to elucidate the national mentality and values they convey. In particular, through analysis of proverbs about trees, flowers, fruits and other plants in Uzbek and English, the study highlights similarities and differences, and discusses their significance from the perspective of intercultural communication. The findings underscore that the meanings embedded in phytonymic proverbs are products of national consciousness and worldview, and that such proverbs serve as an important bridge in the linguistic richness and cultural dialogue between peoples. This linguocultural analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of the development of the Uzbek language and its interaction with foreign languages
