Abstract

This article describes a general, brief review of information on ostrich farming in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. The historical context of the world ostrich association with humans is described, where it currently predominates in South Africa. Ostrich production is based on individual private farms and state farms in Uzbekistan. Ostriches were introduced into Uzbekistan approximately in 2012, and, currently, there are 12 regions in Uzbekistan, of which ostrich farms are found in the Tashkent, Syrdarya, Fergana, Bukhara, Navoi, Khorezm, Samarkand, and Namangan regions. Although local ostrich farmers are dedicated to breeding, growing, and increasing the number of birds, they also sell them for meat consumption. In certain regions, including Khorezm, conditions are suitable for ostrich production. However, the big challenge concerning ostrich production is the lack of knowledge and experience of ostrich breeding. Exploration of ostrich management under the Uzbekistan environmental factors is, therefore, crucial for developing ostrich management in Uzbekistan. This review explores such possibilities.
