Abstract

This study examines the macroeconomic impact of climate change on Uzbekistan’s agricultural economy. Rising temperatures, declining precipitation, and increasing drought frequency threaten crop yields and water availability, especially in regions heavily dependent on irrigation. Projections indicate substantial reductions in agricultural output and labour productivity if adaptation measures are not implemented. Climate-smart agricultural technologies and improved water management could mitigate these risks, enhance productivity, and generate significant economic benefits. The findings highlight the urgent need for integrated adaptation strategies to safeguard Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector and its broader macroeconomic stability.
