Abstract

This study examines the efficiency of infrastructure investments in promoting regional economic development in Uzbekistan. Focusing on national “driver” projects, road reconstruction initiatives, and major financing from multilateral institutions, the analysis highlights the role of strategic infrastructure in improving connectivity, supporting inclusive growth, and fostering local employment. Evidence indicates a strong positive relationship between infrastructure improvements and regional economic performance, demonstrating that targeted investments can serve as growth-enabling mechanisms rather than mere expenditures. The findings underscore the importance of coordinated planning, sustainable financing, and governance frameworks to maximize the socio-economic benefits of infrastructure projects, particularly in underserved regions.
