Abstract

Resume. To investigate the incidence of gum disease in young people living in the Republic of Uzbekistan who have type 1 diabetes. An oral examination was given to fifty teenagers who had diabetes mellitus (DM). The periodontal tissues of 40 individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus showed signs of cararrhal gingivitis, but the tissues of 10 patients showed no signs of inflammation. The PMA, PBI, and GI indices of the children with type 1 diabetes who were evaluated after the trial showed a statistically significant rise. This result suggested that the pathogenic process affected periodontal tissues. Acute catarrhal gingivitis is more common in children with type 1 diabetes of all ages and genders than in children in good health, and this metric is predicted to increase with the children's age. Keywords: type 1 diabetes mellitus; gingivitis; babies.
