PRINCIPLES OF FORMATION OF RECREATIONAL AREAS OF THE KARSHI CITY REGION
Abstract
This article analyzes the principles for developing sustainable recreational areas within the Karshi urban region. Growing urbanization, environmental degradation, and increasing social demands highlight the need for well-structured and accessible green spaces. The study employs a mixed-method approach that includes GIS-based spatial analysis, field observations, public surveys, and a comparative assessment of international standards. The findings indicate that Karshi’s recreational system is characterized by insufficient green coverage, fragmented spatial organization, limited multifunctionality, and an underutilized riverfront zone. Based on these results, the article proposes several key principles for shaping the recreational environment of the city: spatial connectivity, ecological sustainability, multifunctional design, accessibility and inclusiveness, landscape identity, smart management, and climate adaptation. The application of these principles is expected to improve environmental quality, enhance public well-being, and support the long-term resilience and livability of the Karshi urban region.
