Abstract

This article examines the integration of transformative learning principles into the development of productive speech skills among university students. Transformative learning, introduced by Jack Mezirow¹, emphasizes critical reflection, perspective transformation, and the reconstruction of meaning structures. When applied to the enhancement of productive speech—speaking and writing—it fosters deeper self-awareness, communicative autonomy, and analytical thinking. Drawing on Uzbek, Russian, and English scholarly works, this study analyzes how reflective dialogue, perspective-shift tasks, interactive communication, and experiential learning strengthen students’ verbal expression, argumentative competence, and communicative flexibility. The article proposes a holistic pedagogical model that blends transformative techniques with communicative and psycholinguistic principles.
