Abstract

Industrial wastewater is a major source of cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium and nickel pollution. This paper analyzes the ecological significance of natural polymer-based sorbents such as cellulose, chitosan, alginate, lignin, and silk fibroin. The study highlights sorption mechanisms, environmental compatibility, biodegradability, regeneration capability, and advantages over conventional purification technologies.
