Abstract

Relevance. Intraocular tumors are rare, but their early detection helps improve the patient’s prognosis. Compression elastography allows for quantitative assessment by calculating the strain ratio (tissue stiffness). Purpose of the study. To determine the role of compression elastosonography in the noninvasive diagnosis of ocular tumors. Materials and methods. A total of 47 patients (50 eyes) with intraocular space-occupying lesions were included in the study. Among them, 28 were males (28 eyes) and 19 were females (22 eyes), with ages ranging from 4 months to 84 years. Results. Malignant tumors showed higher stiffness values compared to benign tumors. Conclusion. This study demonstrates that elastosonography can differentiate intraocular tumors from one another. Therefore, we believe that elastosonography will play an important role in tumor diagnosis in the future.
