Abstract

The emergence of edge computing facilitates local network administration. Services are now distributed across entire networks rather than being centralised in the cloud. This paper presents how to implement safety measures based on devices' abilities in Internet of Things (IoT) systems. The approach represents an IoT system as a weighted graph based on features. The research suggests determining the optimal placement for a security company by utilising dominating sets and graph weights. The study presents findings from the proposed method applied to a smart city instance that utilises accurate data and incorporates network security functionalities, specifically an IPsec gateway. Findings demonstrate a general improvement in network safety with negligible effects on data flow while maintaining lower deployment costs.
