Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly influencing architectural heritage restoration by introducing new tools for documentation, analysis, and reconstruction. This study explores the practical contributions of AI to restoration workflows while clarifying the areas in which professional human expertise remains indispensable. The research is based on a comparative review of academic literature and a conceptual analysis of recent scholarly publications. It focuses on AI-based approaches to the restoration and reconstruction of lost facade solutions and ornamental elements of heritage sites through digital twins generated from scanning technologies and archival imagery.
