This article discusses with extension the maintenance and diagnostic methods for high-voltage SF6 (six-fluorine sulfur) circuit-breakers. These devices are considered very important for the reliability of high-voltage power transmission systems to protect power supply systems. Constant monitoring of gas pressure and quality, mechanical and electrical tests are the methods used to determine the condition of the circuit-breakers. In addition, more advanced diagnostic methods for early detection of a malfunction are discussed and evaluated. The article examines diagnostic processes and maintenance plans in accordance with international standards.
