Biological activity of prenylated pyranoflavanones from the stems of Derris reticulata
Abstract
The chemical investigation of the crude dichloromethane from the Derris reticulata stems led to the isolation of two new prenylated pyranoflavanones, dereticulatinal (1) and dereticulatinone (2). The structures were established by spectroscopic analysis and chemical transformation, and the absolute configurations of these isolates were deduced through CD comparison with that of lupinifolin. The cancer cytotoxicity study revealed that compound 1 showed cytotoxicity against MOLT-3 cell with an IC50 value of 40.17 ± 4.0 µM, while compound 2 showed cytotoxicity against MOLT-3 and HL-60 cells with IC50 values of 22.16 ± 2.3 and 38.99 ± 4.5 µM, respectively. In the chemopreventive assays, 1 and 2 exhibited strong anti-aromatase activity, with IC50 values of 1.27 ± 0.15 µM and 0.35 ± 0.04 µM, respectively. Compound 2 also showed inhibition activity in HL-60 assay with an IC50 value of 18.1 ± 0.3 µM. Two isolates showed no activities in DPPH and LOX assays.
