Abstract

This chapter explores the transformative impact of agentic AI in education through cognitive, social, and institutional lenses. It argues that AI should augment rather than replace human learning, ensuring cognitive autonomy and metacognitive control. Socially, AI must promote equity by respecting diverse learner contexts. Institutionally, AI should enhance—rather than displace—the educator's role, embedding ethical oversight and human judgment. The chapter calls for co-evolutionary frameworks that position AI as a dynamic partner in education and outlines the need for ethical policies, participatory design, and adaptive institutions to create inclusive, resilient learning environments.
