Abstract

This chapter examines the transformative potential of integrating Digital Twins with BIM and GIS for green infrastructure planning and management. By combining real-time data, spatial intelligence, and performance modeling, Digital Twins enable dynamic, system-wide insights across diverse typologies such as green roofs, wetlands, and urban parks. While offering powerful tools for climate-resilient and sustainable urban development, adoption remains limited by technical, institutional, and regulatory challenges. The chapter outlines strategic directions for research, policy, and capacity-building to scale ethical, interoperable, and inclusive Digital Twin solutions for future-ready, green cities.
