Mapping the Future
Abstract
This chapter emphasizes the strategic importance of Spatial Data Science (SDS) in transforming education policy and planning. SDS enables the identification of geographic disparities, supports data-driven decision-making, and fosters equity, transparency, and sustainability. To realize its full potential, the chapter recommends strengthening spatially enriched EMIS, ensuring open and interoperable data systems, and investing in technical capacity. Ethical data governance and community engagement are essential. Integrating SDS into the education policy cycle is a vital step toward building equitable and future-ready education systems.
