Abstract

As the digital sphere grows, balancing digital sovereignty and global data flows becomes increasingly important. Digital sovereignty refers to a state’s control over data within its borders, while global data flows are vital for trade and innovation. The text highlights key legal frameworks such as the GDPR and CCPA, along with compliance mechanisms regulating cross-border data transfers. It also notes legal conflicts, for example between the EU and the US regarding Facebook’s data transfers. The conclusion stresses the need for harmonized global data protection rules and stronger international cooperation.
