Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical foundations and practical applications of corpus linguistics methods in developing academic discourse in English. The study examines changes in students’ language performance based on materials from modern electronic corpora, particularly the British National Corpus and the Corpus of Contemporary American English. The article identifies the role of corpus technologies in shaping academic writing, oral communication, terminological accuracy, and stylistic appropriateness. In addition, the impact of corpus-based instructional practices on students’ independent learning skills is evaluated through statistical and qualitative analyses. The research findings indicate that systematic use of corpus-based methods significantly enhances the logical coherence, precision, and academic style of students’ discourse. This article serves as a methodological framework for improving English language teaching practices in higher education institutions.
