Abstract

The article aims to clarify the notion of pragmalinguistic presupposition within modern linguistic theory. Pragmalinguistic presupposition is understood as a set of assumptions implicitly embedded in an utterance and taken for granted by the participants of communication. The study examines how such implicit knowledge influences discourse interpretation and communicative effectiveness.
