Abstract. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors contributing to the optimal development of the tourism potential of the Surkhandarya region. The study examines the region’s historical and cultural heritage, archaeological sites, natural landscapes, as well as the opportunities for developing pilgrimage, ecotourism, and mountain tourism. Special attention is given to state programs implemented in recent years, infrastructure development measures, and the impact of investment projects on the tourism sector. Based on statistical data, the dynamics of domestic and international tourist flows, the volume of services provided, and regional growth trends are analyzed. The research findings indicate that transport and service infrastructure, hotel development, service quality improvement, and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage sites play a crucial role in enhancing tourism development. The article also outlines strategic objectives up to 2030 and formulates scientific and practical conclusions aimed at increasing the tourism attractiveness of the Surkhandarya region and supporting its sustainable socio-economic development.
