Abstract

This article analyzes the development of world pedagogical science from the most ancient times to the first half of the 19th century. The pedagogical views of the Ancient East, Greece, Rome, the ideas of education and upbringing of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance are highlighted. In particular, the pedagogical theory, didactic views and ideas of upbringing of Ya. A. Komensky are expanded. Komensky's pedagogical principles are explained by their importance in the formation of the modern education system.
