Abstract
the article examines the sociolinguistic and cultural significance of wedding invitations in Uzbek and English-speaking contexts. It argues that although invitations appear simple and decorative, they function as carriers of cultural values, social norms, and collective or individual identity. Uzbek wedding invitations are shown to rely on formal, respectful, and collectivist language, emphasizing family unity, community harmony, and spiritual blessings. In contrast, English invitations prioritize clarity, conciseness, and individuality, centering on the couple’s personal identity and autonomy.
